Saturday Snapshots

I'm back with another edition of Saturday Snapshots! It's been a couple of weeks since I've linked up with Miss Nelson's Saturday Snapshots, so I thought I'd head over and link up some photos from my last week of summer vacation. Yes, I return to work on Tuesday.

The Midwest Balloon Fest is next weekend, and in an effort to promote the event the Wonder Bread hot air balloon tethered in front of Union Station. We were there to watch the entire set up. Pretty exciting for my 2 year old.

We even won tickets to the Balloon Fest next weekend! I'm looking forward to seeing the fifty plus hot air balloons. Hopefully, I'll get some great photos to share next Saturday. In the meantime head over to Miss Nelson's blog and check out more Saturday Snapshots.

Saturday Snapshots (7/5)

It's Saturday! Time to link up with Miss Nelson for Saturday Snapshots...

What a patriotic week! It began with a watch party for the US Men's National Team (USMNT). I must admit I'm not a soccer fan, but the past few weeks have been exciting watching the USMNT. I was sad to see them eliminated this week:( I was able to make to it to the largest watch party in our city.  It was a very fun experience; thousands of people came out, in their red, white, and blue to cheer on the team.

The week ended with Skydivers and fireworks to celebrate Independence Day.

I hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday!

Saturday Snapshots & a New App

Time for another Saturday Snapshots link up! This week we were able to cross off the letter M for Movie on our summer bucket list. We attended the first KC Chiefs Kids Club Movie Night.

We watched The Lego Movie on the field at Arrowhead Stadium, well in our case in the stands. My little man did not want to sit on the field.

Before the movie began there were lots of events for the kids. His favorite activities were visiting Warpaint, the official horse of the Chiefs. He also enjoyed taking pictures with the  Cheerleaders; he's a flirt!

He's still afraid of the team mascot, KC Wolf.

We had a great time, and enjoyed The Lego Movie.

New App-WordFoto

Browsing through twitter I came across an app, called WordFoto, that I instantly fell in love with. I can see so many uses for this app such as, characterization & vocabulary words. I definitely will be using it the first days of school. It is very easy to use. Take a look at what the app does:

Isn't that a cool app? Do you see uses for the classroom? I would love to hear them.

Be sure to stop by the Saturday Snapshot linky to see what other photos have been snapped.

Have a great Saturday,

Saturday Snapshots 6-21

Happy Summer Solstice! I haven't blogged since I've been on summer vacation, but when I saw Miss Nelson's Saturday Snapshots linky was back, I was so excited, I knew I had to write a blog post. Perfect timing too summer is halfway over; yes you heard me right halfway. I thought I'd use them time to share a few of my favorite photos from the summer thus far.

First up is a book I finished from my TBR list, and what a great book it was! Through a series of diary entries Kizzy Ann Stamps takes readers through experiences of racial discrimination, integration, and self acceptance. A very powerful book for tweens.

Next is my son admiring Thomas the Train after our ride.

Lots of water play an bubble blowing fill our down time.

Here's a photo I snapped this morning, and I just love the way it turned out!

Hope you're enjoying your summer. I'm off to enjoy the rest of mine, because it will be over before you know it. Happy Saturday all!

Saturday Snapshots

Happy Saturday Everyone! Today, I'm linking up with Miss Nelson for Saturday Snapshots. I missed last week:( I was so busy, but I have lots of pictures to share this week, so let's get started.

This picture is from last week. Each teacher runs a club that will meet 5 times throughout the year during seminar, my club is the Duct Tape Club. At our first meeting we made neckties and wallets. It was so fun!

Pictures from this week:

National Talk Like a Pirate Day was this week. I stopped by Krispy Kreme to get a pirate doughnut and ran into Blackbeard.

He gave me a quick lesson in talking like a pirate, and recorded a message for my students, which they loved.

Map Skills

We've finally started map skills in Social Studies. Day one began with mapping the world on an orange, with a partner. Students did a nice job with this, I'll admit I was a little nervous about this activity, but it turned out great. Day two they worked independently to map the world on paper, this time they had to add the oceans.

Next up are pictures from our first Student Council Spirt Day of the year.

Mustache Day

Here is our principal (first picture) and other teachers sporting mustaches for the day.

That's me in the corner! The other photos represent student mustache swag.

More student mustache swag.

Here is my BTF (best teacher friend) and her son.

This future Fashion Designer was all mustached out; headband, scarf, shirt, suspenders, rings, pen and my favorite hand sanitizer.

It was such a fun theme. The best part was everyone could participate. For my students that didn't have any mustache paraphernalia, I was able to print some mustaches for them. They enjoyed the day just as well.

Pizza Party

My homeroom class won a pizza party, from our Papa John's fundraiser, so we enjoyed pizza on Friday as well as mustache day.

Recess

Our team earned enough Bus Bucks for a reward. Recess was the chosen reward. The kids were super excited! They don't normally get recess, so this was a real treat. Mustaches, pizza and recess what else could we throw in on this fun filled Friday?

A FIRE DRILL!

Yes, in all of the fun there was a fire drill.  I was on my plan, and decide to get a few pictures for the yearbook.

Man what a week?! Or should I say Friday! Enjoy your weekend. Don't forget to stop by Run Miss Nelson's got the Camera, for more Saturday Snapshots.
