Monday Made It

It's Monday! I made it! And I'm linking up with Tara from 4th Grade Frolics for  Monday Made It. This is my first time linking up this summer. Trying to get my mind in back-to-school mode. Only a few weeks left. 

 I made something very simple, post-it clipboards. You've probably seen them on Pinterest. Working in a 1:1 iPad school students don't have a need for much paper. However, there are times I want them to write a quick answer or response on a scrap piece of paper. Since they don't usually have paper it was always a scramble for scrap paper; taking up precious minutes. Hopefully, I can cut down on wasted time this year by having 2 post-it note clipboards at every group. 

These clipboards would also make it easier for me to give students feedback. I could pick up one at anytime and quickly write a note to a student. 

They are very simple to make and require very few materials. 

Materials: 

1. square coasters-usually found at a restaurant. I got mine from Outback Steak House. 

2. Washi tape or duck tape (used to cover the coaster) 

3. Scissors 

4. Small binder clips (used to hold the pos-it on the coaster) 

5. Post-its 

Simple yet practical. I also have one that I keep in my purse for my 2 year old. It comes in handy in the waiting room at the doctor's office or at a restaurant.

Monday Made It - Teacher Toolbox

I did it! I made my very own teacher's toolbox. Year after year, I've struggled with how to organize supplies in/on my desk. Nothing has seemed to work. So, after seeing all of the different teacher tool boxes I decided to make one. Take a look. 

It was meant for me because I purchased the last on the shelf. Not very expensive like I originally thought. 

I used some book cover paper I had to cover the drawers, added  Dr. Seuss stickers to match my theme. I don't really care for the stickers, and I might take them off of  the larger drawers. What do you think? See next photo. 

Using clear labels I labeled each drawer. They are hard to read when placed over the hats, but it will work.

I couldn't leave the back the way it was, it bothered me. I saw the idea of covering the back asking students not to touch anything on the desk, sorry I can't remember the exact blog. If it was you  please let me know, so I can give you credit. I decided to do something similar. I think it came out OK. 

My favorite part is that I decided to spray paint it with chalkboard paint. 

Now I can jot down quick notes or in this case my Todo list.

Monday Made It

Happy Monday, and happy first day back to work for many of you! This is my final week of summer vacation:(and it's been great! I hate to see it come to an end, but all good things must end... ok enough of that. Last week, I lucked up on some deals at Office Depot. The store I frequent is downsizing, so you know what that means...SALE!!! I walked into an 80% off sale and walked out a happy teacher:) Some of the deals were the inspiration for my Monday Made it project.

.59¢ borders-Yes, I snatched up all that was left. 

.93¢- only 3 left so I grab them all. If you follow my blog then, you know I'm going with a Dr. Seuss themed room this year, so I was super excited to find these pencils. Inside each box are pencils, but more importantly is this little card...

Not sure that my 6th graders will like the cards very much, so I decided to make something we could use all year long.

First, I cut out the books and glued them to clothes pins. Not sure how I want to use the cat yet.

Then I hot glued the clothes pin to border (3 per strip). I plan to have students hang various book projects.  Pretty simple compared to some of the other Made it Monday projects.  Stop by 4th Grade Frolics to check them out.
